Sing Praise

by Keith Evans on April 23, 2020

“I will sing the Lord’s praise, for he has been good to me.” Psalm 13:6

While doing yardwork last weekend, I decided to create a music playlist to help me pass the time.  I selected some Christian songs, Country songs and Classic Rock songs.  Of course, I had to have my favorite band, U2!  As each song played, each one invoked memories of a time in my past.  Some memories were from high school, memories in my twenties, memories being with friends in Santa Cruz, memories of when I was dating my wife Sandy and memories of how far my spiritual journey has come.

As memories flooded my mind, I also took time to reflect on how blessed my life has been.  Three of my favorite Christian songs that I chose were, “The Stand”, “Revelation Song”, and “Great Are You Lord”.  As these songs played, I hit the repeat button and played them over and over.  As I was reflecting on the words of praise, adoration and awe for our Heavenly Father, I began to tear up and I couldn’t sing.  I was overwhelmed by the Holy Spirit at that moment.  As I regrouped, I thanked God for connecting with Him in that moment.

What songs invoke memories for you? What songs cause you to reflect on the majesty of God? When was the last time a song caused you to get so emotional that you could not sing the song because you were overwhelmed by God’s presence?  If it has been a while, may I challenge you to make a playlist, play the songs over and over and just connect with God.

I shared mine.  I would love to hear what songs you chose.  Please share this Sunday during the pre-service group chat on YouTube.  Blessings!
