Omni

by Lorna Zink on January 20, 2022

In the course of attending church and Bible study classes at Lincoln Presbyterian Church, I began to hear these words which describe God:

Omnipotent        All powerful

Omniscient          All knowing

Omnipresent       Always with us

In one Bible study class, someone mentioned the God alphabet. I began to say words that describe God using each letter. That practice brought a sense of peace (even though “Q” and “X” and “Y” remain a challenge). When I come to “O” it always makes me smile to say the three “omni” words. I added the one and only to the group.

Today as I was thinking about those “O” words, it occurred to me that even though they are such extraordinary attributes-even beyond my grasp fully, I thought two more “O” words should be added. Omni caring and Omni loving. God is first about love. The Bible is indeed a love story. We are all familiar with the phrase “for God so loved the world”. From so early in the Bible we are taught that we should love God with all our hearts, minds, soul and strength, and to love others.

This Valentine’s Day, if you sent God a card, what would you say in it? Would it include a thank You for His amazing love?

Please look up and consider the following passages:

Deuteronomy 6:5

Luke 10:27

John 3:16
