Keys & Radios

"Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me." Psalm 51:10

Prayer and Feasting Day 6

When I was working at a camp, there was a group of people called the leadership staff. Each of these people looked over a group of staff for the summer. One of the perks of having this job was having keys to every door at camp and the use of a walkie talkie. To most people these were a sign that you had arrived! These items were a resource to help serve the people and locate your staff and open doors. It was not the sole purpose of the job. However, for some that became the status and the purpose for why they chose to be in that role.

The individuals who came into the roles of leadership for possessing status were easy to identity, especially in how they treated others and the way they went about their role. When I had the chance to serve the leadership staff I could care less about the keys or the radio, it was something I kept forgetting to take with me. I was more focused on how I could help the group of people I was overseeing. My prayer and my heart was on serving.

Leadership is a form of serving people. What do you notice about the leaders? Is it their fame, the keys and radios or is it the way they care for those they are serving and leading? Let us pray for the heart of leaders. Our prayers are for their lives to be protected, to have direction, and be investing investing in people - and that their joy would be in changed lives and God receiving all the glory and recognition.

Theme of prayer - Leadership

Prayer for today - "Dear Heavenly father, I want to lift up the leaders of our church, nation and community. I ask that each one would see their role as a  servant and doing what is right in Your eyes and best for the people. May these people have pure hearts, motives, and intentions as they serve. Amen"
