I Believe The Bible Is True

by Jon Hathorn on August 02, 2021

“All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right." 2 Timothy 3:16

I believe the Bible is true. I believe it is the Word of God. I believe that the promises of God written in the Bible are trustworthy, meaningful and full of accurate rewards and consequences.

I remember learning a song as a child:

The B-I-B-L-E yes that’s the book for me…

I stand alone on the Word of God

The B-I-B-L-E

I love that song. But the song doesn’t make it the Word of God.  The song reminds us that it is the Word of God.

Archeology has verified that many of the stories written in the Bible are true. But that doesn’t make it the Word of God.

According to scholars who have studied and read the content of the Bible, there are not inconsistencies in the message of who God is and what is written about Him. But that doesn’t make it the Word of God.

There are more copies of the Bible than any other book ever written, but that doesn’t make it the Word of God.

There are prophecies that have been written about the life of Jesus and many other things have come true. But these fulfilled prophecies do not make the Bible the Word of God.

All of these things help us know how important the Bible is. All these things remind us that we should know more about and study the Bible.

It is by faith that I trust it is the Word of God and that God used men to write the Bible. These thoughts give me additional confidence that it really is the Word of God.

Now that I believe it is the Word of God, I should hide it in my heart, read it, study it and obey it.
