Do Over

by Justin Linscheid on April 20, 2024

I don’t normally write a devotion based on a subheading in my Bible, but this one really stood out to me. It said, “A New Copy of the Covenant”. It is referring to the time when Moses broke the tablets of the 10 commandments almost immediately after receiving them from God because of the people’s disobedience, and then received a new copy. I might expect the heading to read “God Changes His mind about His People”. Instead, it virtually reads, “Do Over”.

Do you ever need a “do over?” Of course you do because we all blow it from time to time. And God knows this. Isn’t it wonderful that He is willing to give us second, third, and fourth chances? His offer of love and mercy extend us a new beginning each day.

Lamentations 3:22-23 says it this way: “God’s compassion never ends. It is only the Lord’s mercies that have kept us from complete destruction. Great is His faithfulness; His loving-kindness begins afresh each day.”

So don’t focus on your failure; focus on God’s great faithfulness. Focus on Jesus. Draw near to Him. Let Him love you. Experience afresh His mercy and grace for you. God has you covered. Trust in Him. I pray you feel safe and secure in Christ.
