Boy Was I Wrong

by Jim Dunn on November 30, 2023

“Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.” (Ephesians 4:31-32)

Recently I had to go to the Department of Motor Vehicles to take the written test to renew my driver’s license. For the last few weeks, I took online tests and then I read the entire driver’s manual. SHOCK! Boy was I wrong!

I read and reread a section that will forever (I hope) change my behavior when I am driving. I was totally wrong about a turn issue that just frustrated me, angered me to no end. But whether the other drivers knew it or not, they were right and I was WRONG.

God had once again taught me a valuable lesson about life. He does not want me to be bitter about something or someone, nor does God want me to be angry when driving or in line at the store, etc. There are so many places where I am wrong about situations, people, and even family members.

Perhaps my prayers should be more along the lines of, “God would You continue to change my heart and mind so that Your amazing grace would be better reflected in my life toward others?” What about you?

Oh yes, that is why the Holy Spirit put those words in the Word of God… “And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.” May this be true in our lives, especially when we are driving!

God bless you!
