“Surely Your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever” Psalm 23:6
There is a story of a man who wanted some water. That man had a cup, an 8-ounce cup, to receive some water when he found it. He came upon a man who had a water tanker with 10,000 gallons of clean water. So much water that the man could only imagine.
But how much water could the man who wanted the water carry? Could he take 10 gallons, could he take 5 gallons, could he take a gallon? Absolutely not he could only take 1 cup because that’s how much space he had in his container.
Did you know that God has unlimited resources, that’s more, way more, than 10,000 gallons. His abundance is overwhelming and overflowing. And yet here we are as people, not expecting big things from God. We use our little minds and our little hearts and often only receive drips of His blessing when God has so much more to give. We often rely so little upon God and trust Him for such trivial things.
We have a big God, with love, sacrifice and generosity that is phenomenal and greater than we can ever imagine. He is trustworthy, He is glorious and we should find ourselves ready to receive and recognize what we have received.
I don’t ever want to treat the Lord like a cash register, a magic genie, or a magician - but I don’t want to fail to trust him.
Two things to remember:
Lamentations 3. His mercies are new every morning.
Hebrews 13 He will never leave us.
