1 Corinthians 13 tells us, “Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.”
As it is Valentine’s Day today, why not try to do a bit of a love check-up?
Try reading the above passage and inserting your name (or pronoun) every time love is referred to in this passage. It can be quite convicting. Ask yourself, am I demonstrating the Biblical characteristics of love?
Now try inserting God’s name each time love is referred to. It can give you a good reminder and picture of the character of God. God loves you in this way.
Take time to pray that God would help you to love more like He loves us. At the heart of it all, God wants us to love Him and love other people.
