"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls." Matthew 11:28-30
One of the most beautiful aspects of Jesus is His humility and welcoming spirit. He invites all to come to Him—no prerequisites, no expectations, just a simple invitation to find rest in His presence. This passage from Matthew reminds us that Jesus doesn’t ask for perfect lives or flawless records. He seeks open hearts and weary souls willing to turn to Him. His heart, filled with gentleness and humility, makes space for each of us, no matter where we are or what we carry.
Reflecting on Jesus’ humility, we see a different kind of strength. He doesn’t flaunt power or demand respect. Instead, Jesus quietly serves, loves, and listens. When He washed the disciples' feet, He modeled a love that stoops low to lift others up. This is a Savior who comes down to our level, who sits beside us in our struggles, and who speaks to us in the language of grace, not judgment.
The Christmas story is a reminder that Jesus meets us where we are. He came in humility to embrace our humanity, to make a way for each of us to know God personally. His humble birth tells us that no heart is too lowly for His love. This Christmas, let us come to Him as we are, and let His humble welcome fill us with hope and joy. May we also carry His spirit, opening our hearts to those around us, sharing the peace and kindness that was shared with us in a stable long ago.
