Thankful for True Friends: Blessings That Point Us to Christ

by Raquel Perez on December 30, 2024

I woke up this morning with a big smile, eager to wish my best friend a happy birthday. I am so blessed to have her in my life—a friend who loves me, encourages me, and is honest with me, even when the truth is hard to hear. But the thing I treasure most is that she always points me to Jesus.
Friendship is such a beautiful gift, and God’s Word reminds us of its value and impact on our lives. In 1 Corinthians 15:33, we’re cautioned that "bad company corrupts good character," encouraging us to choose our friends wisely. True friends lift us up, guiding us closer to God rather than pulling us away. Jesus Himself showed us what a true friend looks like. He said, "Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends" (John 15:13). Jesus exemplifies ultimate friendship, showing us loyalty, love, and sacrifice.
Having a friend who shares faith and points us to Jesus is a blessing that we should never take for granted. Jesus is the ultimate friend, one who knows us completely, forgives us, and sticks closer than a brother. With Him, we’re never alone, and with friends who love Him too, we’re doubly blessed.
My prayer for you and your children today is that God would bring friends into your lives who remind you of His love, encourage you in faith, and draw you closer to Him. And if you already have a friend like that, take a moment today to thank God for them. Friends who lead us to Jesus are true gifts from Him.
“Every time I think of you, I give thanks to my God” (Philippians 1:3). May we be friends who reflect Jesus’ love, and may we always give thanks for those who help us walk His path.
