Paul had never been to Colossae.
But he had "seen the church’s website" (just kidding—this was 2,000 years ago!).
Still, Paul had heard of their reputation and was excited about the believers there.
"We always thank God… since we heard of your faith… and love."
(Colossians 1:3-4, bits and pieces)
Or more fully:
"We always thank God… since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love that you have for all the saints."
(Colossians 1:3a, 4)
Faith in Christ is how we get into the family.
Loving the saints is what we do once we’re in.
Faith in God leads to love. Let’s keep our eyes on those two essential qualities: faith and love.
And like Paul, let’s give thanks for those we know who have faith in God and show love to others.
Thank you, God, for other believers who have faith in you and love others.
