In my study Bible I came across a quote that stood out to me. The quote is from Jo Ann Leavell, a wife of a former seminary president and pastor. She writes:
“People before things; people before projects; family before friends; husband before children; husband before parents; tithe before wants; Bible before opinion; Jesus before all.”
This quote is coming from a seasoned Christian and has a lot of wisdom in it. Within it are Biblical truths and priorities that God outlines in His word.
Many seasons in life will test and reveal where our priorities lie. We will be challenged to choose. Consult God’s word and lean into Him with prayer and God will help you navigate each situation with His wisdom.
Above all, Jesus must come first. When He is first in our lives, it gives us Heavenly perspective and priorities that we do not otherwise have.
As Jesus said in Matthew 6:33, “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” Put God first in your life and trust that God will provide for you and give you the wisdom to live well.
