This week, Lincoln Presbyterian Church is having a one week long prayer emphasis – partnering with many churches in Stockton. It is our hope to have at least one person in prayer every hour of every day this week. Each Word of Encouragement is around a portion of the Lord’s Prayer.
Our Father is the Almighty, the one who was before creation. He along with the Holy Spirit and the Son created time, space and matter. Think about it – before time, space and matter, there was only the God, the Sovereign One. In Genesis 1:1 it says, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” This is amazing.
IN THE BEGINNING refers to His creating time. This means that God is outside and beyond everything that has ever been made. He is not limited to time, and yet He can jump in and out of time – He transcends time. That’s amazing. Since He created time, He also made a space for time to occur.
GOD CREATED THE HEAVENS refers to the space He created. There is an area where activity takes place and the order of things sequentially take place. And this space that He directed and created moves forward and not in reverse, reminding us that each and every moment is important.
AND THE EARTH refers the matter He created. It is nice that He created a space for the matter to be in, meaning He controls the substances of the earth. The remainder of Genesis 1 lists many of the things that God created: Light, waters, sky and land, vegetation and trees, the sun and moon, the fish and creatures of the sea, the birds, land animals, and man.
He is absolutely beyond everything in all creation. Thank You Lord, for making everything.
