Mad Gab

"He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation." Mark 16:15

I loved playing games as a kid.  Some of the ones I liked most were Sorry, Chinese checkers, Rummy, and Uno. However, there was one game that I was terrible at as a kid. It is called Mad Gab. Basically, how the game works is one player holds a card that has jibber-jabber-ish words on it (like the card up above). The answer is on the back. The other player is trying to figure out what it says, by reading the card out loud. If you are the one looking at the answer, it seems like the guessing person is saying the correct answer, but they don't even know it yet.

I don't think I ever figured one of those cards out. Years later, as an adult, I think I might have finally gotten the hang of it, thanks to my kids! As a mom, I feel as though I am playing a live action version of the game: it’s called teaching a kid to read and write. We are in the stage of parenting where we sound out everything. My son was practicing writing out his letters and sounding them out.

We have some sticky yarn that we use to practice writing out the letters. One morning he was busy spelling away and then he caught my attention and says, "Mom, look what I spelled. He proceeds to sound out G-O-D. He proceeds to tell me that it says the word “God.” Then he added this “Mom, I put it on the window so that everyone can know that God exists.”

As any mother would do, I grab my phone to snap a picture. That moment will stay with me forever.  As I look at that picture, I am reminded that we each can share our faith, wherever we go. God will use each one of us, to spread the good news that Jesus exists. God has given each of us a voice and a way to share that He exists. Let us share that great news wherever we may be or wherever we may go, that He is Lord.

- Just in case you wanted to try the game - here are two examples

  "Common Firm Their Rain"
