“Joy to the World! The Lord is born! Let earth receive her King!” It’s Christmas time! We sing boldly rejoicing in Christ our Savior who is born. Hallelujah! When we get to the refrain, “let heaven and nature sing”, it’s just part of the song and we sing happily along. But wait a minute. Let’s think about that for a moment…
Let heaven and nature sing- that’s everyone and everything that has breath. It is the full chorus that proclaims Jesus birth, not just you and me singing. It truly boggles the mind… Just think of the possibilities….
The stones will speak.
Luke 19:40 - “I tell you,” He replied, “if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.”
The fields and trees rejoice-
Psalm 96:12 - "Let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them; let all the trees of the forest sing for joy."
Isaiah 55:12 "-You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands."
And the angels- can you begin to imagine the glorious sound?
Hebrews 1:6 - "And again, when God brings His firstborn into the world, He says, “Let all God’s angels worship Him.”
Revelation 5:11 - "Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels, numbering thousands upon thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand. They encircled the throne and the living creatures and the elders."
This Christmas, it’s not just you and me singing and praising and glorifying our Lord who is born. Its heaven and nature joining in! Everything everywhere is joining in. You’re in great company….Glory be to the Lord!
Psalm 150:6 - "Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord."
