“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6
While driving two of my kids to school, I can hear my daughter shouting out all the colors of balloons and flowers that she sees as she looks out the window. My oldest son, shouting out, “One,” then, “Two,” and a few minutes later, “Three.” Then a few minutes later came the phrase, “Mom, I only need seven more cats until I get to ten.” I responded casually about that being cool, and something about great job on your math skills.
He keeps playing this game as we drop off sister and now we are heading toward his school. At this point he proudly shares he has counted nine cats. We are about 8 blocks away from school. He is excited and he says, “Mom, I really hope I get to see ten cats.” I responded that it would be cool.
At this point he was realizing that we are so close to school, and so I told him he could pray and ask God that it would be cool to see ten cats before school, and could you help me to find one more? At this point, I am truly invested in finding one more cat. We drive a few more blocks and with one block to go, we see a huge cat. We both get super excited and yell "CAT!" Afterwards we said a prayer of thanks to God for allowing us to find one more cat. What a special moment of thanking God.
We have such a privilege to be able to pray to God and share our every moment with Him. As it says in 1 Thessalonians 5:17 to “pray without ceasing”. Don’t miss the opportunity to take your requests, needs, and praises to God, no matter how big or small they may be. We have an amazing God that can do anything!
