The day after Christmas can feel a little quiet, even lonely, or sad. The gifts have been unwrapped, the carols sung, the meals shared, and it’s almost time for the lights to come down unless you are one of those people who leave them up all year. But the miracle we celebrated yesterday, the birth of Jesus, isn't a story that fades with the holiday. It’s the start of something that lasts forever.
When Jesus came into the world, He entered a life where He would walk with us, speak to us, and show us the depth of God’s love in ways humanity had never seen before. And as He later promised, “I am with you always, to the very end of the age” (Matthew 28:20).
Today reminds us that His birth was not the end but a beginning. His arrival fulfilled the hope of God’s presence with us—an unbroken closeness that will never leave. So, as you put away the decorations or get back to your routine, let your heart hold onto this: the promise of Christmas isn’t just one day. It’s every day. He is with us through every moment, even the ones that feel ordinary or less than desirable. At His presence with us was what all the lights, and gifts, and songs were about anyway. Right?
Let’s carry forward the joy of Christmas as the ongoing presence of our Savior. No matter where life takes us, we’re never alone. Jesus came to be with us, not just on Christmas, but always.
