“Give thanks to Lord for He is good, His Love endures forever,” Psalm 107:1
Truthfully, I love gravy on Thanksgiving. I like it on the Turkey, I like a lake of it or even a small ocean of it on my mashed potatoes, I like it oozing into and over the stuffing, and I really enjoy swabbing it up with a soft white roll. When I was in elementary school I got into trouble on Thanksgiving Day because I would act like a kid (a baby goat) and lick the plate. Thanksgiving is not a fun day when you get into trouble for “acting like a Turkey.”
Today I thought about the verse in Psalm 107:1 and I am reminded of three ways God is good.
One, He cared enough to create me. He was sufficient without me and I have caused grief for Him. And He knew this would be the case. He knew I would act like a Turkey and yet He cared enough to create me. Thank you God.
Two, He cared enough to walk with me. He never gives up on me. Oh, I have given up on some things like clothes, car parts, some cooking mistakes and burnt food, some cars, old fences. Yet in all this life, God has never given up on me. Thank you God.
Third, He cared enough to give eternal hope. I sinned and made mistakes, sometimes on purpose and sometimes accidentally. I have fallen short of glorifying Him at all times -yet He gave me a future and hope of life eternal with Him.
Remember, a Turkey doesn’t have a whole lot to be thankful for except the hope that someone will love him enough to eat him and he won’t stay frozen forever. Let’s not stay frozen - let’s give thanks.
Would you do something special today - be thankful for gravy and put it on all those things (not the pie) and remember that we have so much to be thankful for and “His love endures and oozes forever.”
