God delights in you

by Barbara Zumwalt on August 05, 2024

It had been a hard day, and on my way to work I tried to sing praises to God (among the hardships was my car's audio system going bust). I got out only one half-hearted chorus, then sadly prayed, "I'm sorry, God, I just can't do it."

Immediately a Bible verse I had memorized years before came to mind, as if God was saying to me: "It's OK, remember, 'I will joy over thee with singing!'" Zephaniah 3:17.

In my weakness, being unable to praise God with singing, He sang over me.

I'm not special: He sings over all of those who love Him. He doesn't just reluctantly sing, or begrudgingly sing, or half-heartedly sing. He takes great pleasure -- lasting joy -- in singing over each and every one of us.

Ok. I AM special. This verse reminds me that I am God's favorite (I am tied for first with all who accept Jesus), and He proves it by singing over me with joy.
