Four Answers

“This is what the LORD says, He who made the earth, the LORD who formed it and established it, the LORD is His name: ‘Call to Me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’”   Jeremiah 33:2-3

As a child, I wanted what I wanted when I wanted it, and I always wanted it now.

My poor parents had to endure my whining “Pleeeeeeeease!”

Sometimes, wanting a cookie before dinner was not in my best interest, despite my great desire. So, my parents sometimes said “No.”

As an adult, I’ve changed dramatically.

NOT!

I still want what I want when I want it, and that usually is now.

God has to endure my whining “Pleeeeeeeeease!”

He always answers -- just not necessarily the way I’d want. But always in love and with
my best interest in mind.

In my experience, His answers always fall into one of four categories:

No, I love you too much.

No, not yet.

Yes, I thought you’d never ask.

Yes, and so much more.

Even as an adult, I sometimes want things that are bad for me. I’m grateful that God
loves me enough to say no to these requests and to put into my heart the desire to long
for things that are good for me so He can respond to my request with a resounding
“Yes!”
