By The Book

"Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy," Rev. 1:3

My wife is a champion master of assembling IKEA products.  Why is she so good - because she looks at the book of instructions. She lays out in groups all the parts and makes sure the correct number of each one was in the box. Then she reads section A and assembles accordingly, then she reads section B and assembles accordingly. She does this for each of the sections. The book has never failed her, and she has never failed the book.

Many people who have a Bible just have it collecting dust and haven't taken a chance to read it.
What if a justice of the peace went completely by "the book?"
What if a school principal went completely by the school handbook?
What if a highway patrol officer went completely by the DMV handbook?

In some ways this would be consistent and also helpful in knowing what to expect from the person in authority.  But this would also require the person in authority to read the book, study the book and know the book.

What if a believer lived by THE BOOK?
What if every church goer started to live by THE BOOK?
What if children were taught THE BOOK?

Hopefully, as a reader, you know that THE BOOK is the Bible. So many people have believed things were written in the Bible, but they are not, and too many people just don't know what THE BOOK says.

People have missed standards of living, rejected expectations of righteous living, and ignored the great anticipation of the hope and future that God has promised. People often draw the conclusion that obedience to THE BOOK is not worth it. Probably the most important thing most people fail to realize is - God is the author, and not only did He write it through the hands and hearts of men - He has the ultimate authority to back up the concepts and truths for living, which means things won't work other ways, and things will work according to the book.

If you do not have a Bible and you would like one, contact the office or ask one of the staff on Sunday and we will get you one.
