An Invitation to God's Transforming Grace

by Justin Linscheid on November 18, 2024

“God’s law was given so that all people could see how sinful they were. But as people sinned more and more, God’s wonderful grace became more abundant.  So just as sin ruled over all people and brought them to death, now God’s wonderful grace rules instead, giving us right standing with God and resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 5:20-21

The law of God reveals our brokenness and shows us how far we fall from His perfect standard. But what if instead of letting that realization fill us with guilt, we saw it as a doorway to grace—a moment to recognize how deeply we need God’s transformative power in Jesus?

When we encounter those parts of God’s law that seem to highlight our failings, it can feel like a heavy burden. But what if, instead of staying in that space of shame, we saw it as an invitation? An invitation to step into God's grace, to rest in His power to free us and sustain us. The truth is, shame and guilt will never lead to lasting change. They are poor substitutes for the transforming grace of God. When we rely on our own strength, motivated by guilt, we are only trying to fix ourselves. But God calls us to something different: to rely on His grace, to trust in His power—not our own.

No matter where you are in your walk with Christ, His grace is an open invitation to come to Him just as you are. His grace is greater than your sin; His love is stronger than your brokenness. God is not waiting for you to punish yourself or earn your way back into His favor. He simply wants you to come to Him, to rest in His love, and to find strength in His presence. There is no striving required—only the peace of knowing that God’s grace is enough for you, right now.

So come to Him. Rest in His grace. Let Him be the one to change you, by His strength and His might.
