This picture has a very cool quote about addictions, and I couldn't help but think about how it applies to the Christian life. There are people who have a very full schedule. Their calendars have many activities and many positive and important events to attend and pay attention to each and every day. Then there are other people who have a few things to do and simply enjoy something called "down time" or "me time."
There is something special about having time for the right things, not forcing them into our schedules but actually having time and enjoying the time. We often see people who are preoccupied with their phones and simply are missing the moment with people or the current situation in which they are located.
I really appreciate the thought of being addicted to Jesus. Sounds kind of funny, because addictions are most often inferring a negative habit. Addictions means we want it, we crave it, we don’t want to live without. It is our passion far above the other things in life. As a human being I have choices about what is important - and the reality is something always needs to be most important.
Jesus should be our single greatest addiction. Some great signs of addiction to Jesus are enjoying talking to Him in prayer, reading His word the Bible, and just enjoying some quiet time with Him. One of my friends says, “Every morning I just have a coffee date with Jesus, where I stop and admire who He is and turn pages of Scripture with my Lord.”
