Acknowledgment

Like many of you, I really like to be acknowledged. I have gotten used to shop employees greeting me when I enter the store and feel a niggle of annoyance when they don’t. I was recently looking up a store’s address and up popped a Yelp review that started out: “They didn’t even greet me when I walked into the store,” I didn’t read the rest of the complaint but it was important enough to this person to complain they had not been greeted.

My aqua aerobics instructor is good at greeting us and acknowledging when we improve. Is it any surprise that she is a Christian?

I read 3 devotionals every morning, but do I start my day with prayer? Only sometimes. Do I talk to God throughout the day? Only sometimes. And yet that is what He wants us to do. He wants to be acknowledged. The following verse instructs us to do just that:

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” I Thessalonians 5: 16-18

I am working on the habit of praying for ambulances, fire trucks and police cars with their sirens blaring. I try to be good about thanking God when an item I need is on sale, etc. I often bless people as I encounter them and I get a mixed reaction. Have a blessed day!
