Unholy Grumbling

Be Careful, Marcos.

Complaining ain’t somethin’ that God particularly favors.

Exodus 15:24: So the people grumbled at Moses, saying, “What shall we drink?”

Exodus 16:2: The whole congregation of the sons of Israel grumbled against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness.

Exodus 16:3: “…Would that we had died by the Lord’s hand in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the pots of meat, when we ate bread to the full; for you have brought us out into this wilderness to kill this whole assembly with hunger.”

God seems to take complaining rather personally.

Exodus 16:8: “Your grumblings are not against us but against the Lord.”

Grumbling doesn’t just reveal our discomfort, it reveals our distrust. It forgets God’s faithfulness and assumes the worst of His intentions. When we constantly complain, we stop seeing God as a good Shepherd.

So be careful, Marcos. Because complaining is rarely about the circumstances; it’s usually about what we really believe about God.
