The Lord Was with Him

Now Joseph had been taken down to Egypt…
and the Lord was with Joseph,
he was a successful man.
(Genesis 39:1-2)

Joseph was sold by his brothers, betrayed, trafficked, torn from everything familiar.

But the text doesn’t begin with his pain—it begins with God’s presence. The Lord was with him. And that made all the difference.

This morning, I imagine a modern version:
Now Marcos had been taken down to Mexico…
and the Lord was with Marcos,
he was blessed.

Not blessed because everything went right.

Not because all pain disappeared.

But because God was there. And God is here.

He didn’t abandon Joseph in Egypt. He doesn’t abandon us either.

Sometimes the story doesn’t start where we want it to. But when we recognize that God is with us, all places become holy ground.

This morning, rest in this:
Wherever you are, whatever road brought you there—if the Lord is with you, you are blessed.
