“Being strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy; giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light.” —Colossians 1:11-12
God’s power at work in me, generating endurance and patience, results in thankfulness because, although I’m not ‘qualified’ on my own, I got my name in God’s will by grace.
On top of that, I have been declared a saint, and I get to take part in “the inheritance.”
It’s humbling to think about how little we bring to the table when it comes to God’s glorious kingdom.
We weren’t “qualified” in any way on our own, but God—rich in mercy—declared us saints through Christ.
He didn’t just include us in His family; He made us heirs. That’s why we endure, why we live with patience, and why joy springs up even in the hard places.
Because of His power in us, thankfulness is not just an act but a way of life. Through Him, we are strengthened, equipped, and carried—not for fleeting moments, but for all eternity.
Thankfully,
