“I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people — or kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.”
The Scriptures instruct us to pray for all people. I want to encourage you to pray for leaders in our country today.
One thing that stands out to me about this passage, is that our aim should be to live peaceful, godly, and holy lives. Many want things in our country to go well just so they can have more years of sinful self-indulgence. God calls for an aim at holiness and godliness.
I will keep this devotion short and sweet so that you have more time for prayer. Perhaps in addition to praying for our leaders, you can ask the Lord what it would look like for you to make peace, holiness, and godliness your aim?
