Presidents’ Day Prayer

“I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.” – 1 Timothy 2:1-2
Presidents’ Day serves as a timely reminder of Scripture’s call to lift up our nation’s leaders in prayer. Whether or not we agree with their decisions, God asks us to intercede for those in authority. Through our prayers, we can invite His wisdom, guidance, and peace into their lives and decisions.

It’s also important to notice that Paul links these prayers to a higher purpose: that we may live peaceful and godly lives. Our prayers for leaders shouldn’t merely aim for personal comfort or convenience but should reflect a desire for holiness and the flourishing of God’s will. As you pray for leaders today, don’t forget to ask God to help you live in a way that reflects His love and truth.
Prayer:
Gracious God, we come before You today with hearts full of gratitude for the freedom we enjoy in this nation. We lift up our president, vice president, and all those in positions of authority. Grant them wisdom to govern justly, strength to lead with integrity, and humility to seek Your guidance in all they do. Surround them with wise counsel and give them a vision for unity and peace.
We also pray for their families, asking for Your protection and blessings over their lives. And Lord, help us as citizens to be faithful in prayer and to pursue godly and holy lives, reflecting Your kingdom in all we do. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
