I went to church with my Grandpa and Grandma, on and off, for several years as a child. I never fully understood what was being preached on Sunday morning and to me the stories told in Sunday School, were just that…a story.
Yet, all my memories of my time in church as a child are good. I remember singing my favorite hymn, being greeted with excitement by members of the church, and looking forward to Sunday morning. Seeds were definitely being planted and watered. God didn’t bring growth until I was 26 years old, but still none of those Sundays were wasted.
Sometimes as a parent we wonder whether or not bringing our kids to church really makes a difference. Maybe they don’t sit still during service or participate in worship. Maybe they get in trouble in their Sunday School class…Or maybe they seem more excited about the pastries being served, than the Bible lesson they will hear in Kids Church.
Remember, God’s word never comes back void. Every moment your child spends in corporate worship matters. Every Bible lesson they hear matters. Every “hello” they receive from a church member matters. Seeds are being planted and watered…AND someday God will bring the growth
