Our Destination (Part 1)

“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil….” Psalm 23:4
My wife and I do our best to go on a walk every morning. It is basically the same route of about 2 miles. It’s a walk, not a run, not a skip, not a stand still. We actually have headphones on and are each listening to Scripture. Our destination is our house. The walk is something we are doing, and an activity that we participate in.

In our lives, we have tough times. They might be financial or relationship oriented. Maybe a health issue or a work challenge. But those circumstances are not supposed to be our home, not our destination, and not even a substantial pre-occupation. It is something that happens.

These things are considered shadows. I love that word. Shadows don’t hurt. The shadow of a knife can’t hurt, and yes, certainly a knife can. But not the shadow.

Our destination is to be with the Lord and enjoy His presence, and yes life has challenges and even evil times – but those are a part of the walk. Our destination is to be with Jesus.
