Living Examples

“Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you.” —Philippians 4:9

When we think about communicating the Christian life to others, can we say, “Follow what you see me doing”? Too often, it’s easier to tell others what they should do rather than allowing our own example to speak. But Paul not only taught the truth, he lived it. He not only spoke of love, but he could also say, “Look at my life and follow what you have seen me do.”

This verse invites us to pause and ask: are we living examples of the Christian faith or only proclaimers of it? We are called to be Christ’s witnesses not merely with our words but by our walk. It is easier to point out how others are falling short or to point out what they should be doing than it is to say, “follow me as I follow Christ”.

God, help us not only to speak the truth of Christ but to embody it in our everyday lives. Make us living examples of the gospel we proclaim. May your word be in us first before we make attempts to see it in others.
