God’s Promise

Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you. So, we say with confidence, ‘the Lord is my helper, I will not be afraid.’ Hebrews 13:5

We all go through hardships in life and I think sometimes we decide, erroneously, that God doesn’t care, or maybe even that he does not exist.

The Christian way is not an easy path. We will face challenges to our faith on a daily basis. We all face days that can be discouraging.

When I had a private practice, I enjoyed meeting with the clients who were Christians. I was able to call to mind scripture that was helpful. However, when they would lament “why is this happening to me?” I would remind them that this world is far from perfect and it was challenging because it isn’t heaven. Instead, I would urge them to focus on their faith and see what they could learn from their difficulty.

It wasn’t only my clients who needed to remember to talk to God about their difficulties, it was important for me to do so as well. I considered it a privilege to work with these people and pray for them, Christians and unbelievers as well.

Through it all, as promised, God is with us. May we be there for one another as God is there for us.

Carry each other’s burden, and in this way, you will fulfill the law of Christ.” Galatians 6:2
