“So we have not stopped praying for you since we first heard about you. We ask God to give you complete knowledge of his will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding. Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better.” — Colossians 1:9–10 (NLT)
Have you ever just sat still and whispered, “God, I want more”?
More of Your presence.
More of Your wisdom.
More clarity, more peace, more love.
More of You.
That’s what Paul is praying for the believers in Colossians 1. It’s not a prayer for comfort or success—it’s a prayer for depth. For fuller knowledge of God’s will. For spiritual wisdom and understanding. For lives that overflow with good fruit and a heart that grows to know God better and better.
This is what it looks like to be content, but not complacent. To know God, and still hunger for more. It’s not dissatisfaction with God—it’s a holy desire to draw closer to Him, to walk more faithfully, to love more fully.
Let this be our prayer too: God, I know You—but I want more. Teach me, shape me, fill me. Let my life be a reflection of knowing You more and more every day.
Prayer: Lord, I thank You for what I already know of You—but I want more. Fill me with spiritual wisdom and understanding. Let my life bear fruit that honors You. Help me grow, not for my own glory, but because I long to know You better and love You deeper. Amen.
