Finding Peace

“May the LORD bless his people with peace!”  Psalm 29:11

Have you ever had a stressful event or day and then wondered, “How can I find peace in the midst of this?” Maybe it has actually been extended tension, anxiety, and fear. Maybe you’ve even asked yourself, “Where is God in all of this?” Here’s a message of hope and peace that comes directly from God’s Word. It’s a peace that surpasses all understanding, a peace that can transform your life.

The big question is “How?” Let me suggest a couple of things that has helped others.  Lean on God’s Promises. To experience God’s peace, we need to lean on His promises and rest our minds on His truth. Philippians 4:8-9 encourages us to fix our thoughts on what is true, honorable, right, pure, lovely, and admirable. When we focus on these things, the God of peace will be with us.

Lastly, present your requests to God. Simple right? In Philippians 4:6-7, Paul tells us not to be anxious about anything, but to present our requests to God with thanksgiving. When we do this, the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Seems to me that prayer is God’s mechanism to shift our focus from our problems to God’s promises.
