Fearfully and Wonderfully Made

“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made” Psalm 13 9:14

Our brain is one incredible, complex organ. It consists of 100 billion neurons and over 100 trillion synaptic connections. Let me give you some context and a frame of reference for that number: there are more neurons in a human brain than stars in the Milky Way galaxy! Wow. I hate to use such an obvious phrase, but it can be very challenging to grasp those numbers. That’s a huge number and extremely complex.
Those anatomical facts drive me to what the Scriptures say about you and me. The Psalmist puts God’s creative work in my life this way:

“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful; I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.”— Psalm 139:13-16

Long before cells were identified, anatomical systems were observed, or modern medicine existed, God’s Word reveals He created, formed, and knit me together.

In addition, we have multiple body systems that work together: Nervous, Digestive, Respiratory, Cardiovascular, Urinary, Skeletal, Lymphatic, Endocrine, Muscular, Integument, and the ladies have the Reproductive system as well. Magnificent and incredible.

This doesn’t even consider mental processing, emotional response, creativity, and the many kinds of wisdom, such as: interpersonal, intrapersonal, musical, logical, spatial, linguistic, kinesthetic, and a few others.

Today is a great day to say, “Thank you, Lord, for your special design of me. May I honor you with the way I live.”
