“Study to show yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of Truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15
When I was a kid, I enjoyed doing Dot to Dot designs. I would pick up a pencil, search for number 1, then connect each consecutive number until the design was complete. I never used a pen—because I knew I would make a mistake.
Recently, as I was preparing for surgery, my daughter gave me The Best of Extreme Dot to Dot Mystery Collection. Most of the pictures have 800–1,200 dots. I don’t look at the back of the book to see what the final image will be; I simply start connecting the dots, trying to figure it out along the way. And this time, I always use a pen. Why? Because I know I’ll make mistakes, and when I’m finished, I want to see the errors of my ways.
Our daily journey through life is like a Dot to Dot. Along the way, we make mistakes—sins, missteps, and regrets that stand out like ink on a page. We remember them, and sometimes we despise ourselves for our foolishness. But in Christ, we have incredible forgiveness. And as 2 Timothy 2:15 reminds us, we need not be ashamed.
Why? Because we have taken time to connect the permanent dots of God’s Word:
1. Study God’s Word.
2. Work to know God’s truth.
3. Trust that God’s forgiveness removes sin.
4. Know the truth of God’s Word so you can be set FREE!
I love that God—and God alone—can remove the ink stain of sin from our lives. Yes, He again does the impossible through His Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ.
God is so good!
