"For You created my inmost being; You knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful; I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from You when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in Your book before one of them came to be." Psalm 139:13-16
On October 20, The-1916-Project documentary will be shown at Lincoln Church. The website, the1916project.com says, “It reveals the hidden history of how Planned Parenthood and other elites have corrupted the American family and culture for over 100 years.” Abortion, racism, and secular moral degradation will be covered in the documentary. Since Margaret Sanger, the founder of Planned Parenthood is examined in the film; I decided to check out the significance of the birth of a single human being based on the odds. After sifting through various sources, what follows is what seemed most reasonable. Also, I think it’s important to focus on the last five words of verse 14, “I know that full well.” We tend to trail off in thought after the “fearfully and wonderfully made” part, at least I used to.
First of all, you are the result of 1 unique sperm fertilizing 1 unique egg. So the odds of just your parents having conceived you during their most realistic reproductive years are 40 million to 1. Put another way, your individual chance of being born was 1 out of 40,000,000. There are 39,999,999 other possible children that could have been born to your parents that aren’t you. Any other sperm or any other egg would be someone else, a sibling, but not you.” Now, if you go back to the original 2 ancestors who started your DNA line, odds against you being born rise to 400,000,000,000,000,000 to 1. A quadrillion is a 1 followed by 15 zeroes, or 1 X 1015, or a thousand million millions, or a thousand trillions; whichever choice helps you “comprehend” the incomprehensible. Once again, any other combination of either sperm or egg out of the 400,000,000,000,000,000 possible in your entire ancestral line, and you would not be here. Based on the odds, you should not be. I should not be. How is it we made it out of the womb?! That’s why I point to the declaration in verse 14, “I know that full well.” Because now I do know full and well that I had a near zero chance to be born. And so did you. But I’m here writing, and you’re there reading.
Do you realize how significant you truly are?
Do you understand why the conception and birth of any human is truly a miracle?
Do you think God created you with a unique purpose long before you were born?
Will you cherish the life and time you have here to glorify the God who chose you to be?
God is so awesome!
