Remembering

"My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends. You are My friends if you do what I command." John 15:12-14

Veteran's Day is a day of remembering, one where we remember what the American Armed Forces have done for us.  They have sacrificed and given. They have gone without, so that we can have.  They have had little so that we can have much.  They have been away from their families so that we can be with ours.  They gave up many freedoms so that we could have freedom.  This attitude is wonderful and helpful for all who live in America.

This attitude of love is incredible and one that God keeps on giving as well.  He loved us at creation, and when man went wayward - He loved us still and redeemed us.  When man went wayward again, He still loved us and helped us again.  God has made provisions of love over and over again.  He gave us glimpses of His ultimate love by - Providing a ram for Abraham; Grain for Egypt as well as the Jews; the splitting of the Red Sea;  Provisions of manna, quail and water in the wilderness; A rock to Goliath's head; Moisture one night for Gideon and then dryness on another night; Esther for Persia; Nehemiah for Jerusalem; And even dry bones dancing during the time of Ezekiel.

Love and provisions are incredible, but the greatest sacrifice was Jesus Christ on the Cross.  He gave His all, not for Himself but for us.  May you and I be imitators of the loving Father and love one another.  It doesn't take much to love, it just needs to take place and not remain a thought.  Lending a hand, sending a note, offering a sandwich, and simply taking the time to talk.  Let's be people of action.
