“What man among you If he has one hundred sheep and loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness and go after the one that is lost until he finds it? And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing.” Luke 15:4-6
I was reminded of this parable recently in my Pilates class. One of the women suffered a severe leg cramp and the instructor stopped the class to help her. That took several minutes but no one complained because it was necessary.
Another event happened in my Aqua aerobics class. We were exercising when all of a sudden, the instructor dove into the pool. She had seen someone go under. Turns out the woman was just retrieving her bracelet from the bottom of the pool but the instructor didn’t know that. It’s reassuring to know that she keeps good track of us.
“Jesus continues ‘Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance’.”
It is reassuring to know that heaven is cheering for us when we repent. Jesus has shown us the way, but we are often lax in following it. Let us all strive to do better in the future and follow that still small voice in our ears.
