Gongyzo Virus

by Justin Linscheid on November 02, 2024

A friend of mine warned me about the Gongyzo virus. This virus is a worldwide, highly infectious, and devastating condition that does not discriminate—everyone is susceptible, and there is no vaccine. Gongyzo affects us physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. People of all ages, from the young to the old, often succumb to its influence.

Various situations and circumstances can trigger Gongyzo, so we must remain vigilant. God places the Gongyzo virus on the same level as immorality, idolatry, the craving for evil things, and testing Him (1 Corinthians 10:6-10).

So, what exactly is the Gongyzo virus? The term "Gongyzo" is derived from the Greek word for grumbling, murmuring, or complaining. Grumbling reflects a heart that is discontented with God. It fosters negative and discouraging feelings in others, impacting our thoughts and actions. Instead of uplifting those around us, grumbling pulls them down.

If you’ve noticed an outbreak of Gongyzo in your life, ask God to help you change your attitude. To have an attitude of complaining is to close our eyes to the many undeserved blessings that are ours in Christ

“Do everything without grumbling or complaining.” Philippians 2:14
