Freshness with the Lord

by Fred Jantz on April 18, 2020

There was an Enlgishman who attempted to translate the Bible into today's language in the early 1950's.  JB Phillips brought new life to the old story of the New Testament.  It was not a literal translation, but instead an attempt to communicate the basics.  When he finished, he wrote that this task had changed him.  One could not spend that many hours in the Book of Acts without sensing that the early church had something special..  There was that new joy among the people that could only be explained by God's special presence.  It was not business as usual. It was fresh and alive and winsome.  Acts 2:44 says that the believers were together...they sold...they gave...they ate...there was gladness and sincerity among them. No wonder the people were added daily to the new creation - the church.
