Enthusiasm

by Jon Hathorn on May 06, 2021

“My heart rejoices in your salvation.” Psalm 13:5

As a child I used to get really excited about things.  Some of the ways I expressed my enthusiasm included:  running around the house and jumping up and down, screaming loudly over and over again, waving my hands near my face, and clasping my hands and squeezing them.  Some of the things that raised my enthusiasm were:  an ice cream treat, getting to have a friend come over and spend the night, playing catch in the yard, sleeping in the treehouse, dinner in the backyard, riding in the back of the station wagon, watching TV and eating popcorn.  The truth is, I was pretty loud at home.

As a believer in Jesus Christ, joy should be a part of our lives.  How should we express our joy? A smile, a grateful heart, clapping our hands, saying thank you, maybe even jumping up and down, screaming loudly over and over again, waving our hands, and simply saying thank you with a grateful heart and spoken word.  What are things that should raise our enthusiasm - forgiveness of sin, provisions of health, peace of heart, peace of mind, air to breathe, food to eat, beauty to see, the ability to think and feel, the presence of others, and the list goes on and on.

Would you take the time today, to express joy to God? I am going to set a timer for 2 hours today, and when the timer goes off - I will take the time to express gratitude and joy to God.  I also will take the time to share joy with two people today through an encouraging text or email.
