“...if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus Christ and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9
Pastor Jon shared recently in one of his sermons how his mom went to church for 56 years and had never invited Jesus Christ to be her personal Savior. She raised her children to go to church. She taught Sunday School and was a great worker in the life of her church, but it wasn’t till she was 56 years old that she finally opened her heart and confessed with her lips that Jesus Christ was her Lord and Savior. She missed the true message of who Jesus was and is for 56 years. However, she finally got it and realized she needed to say, “Yes Lord Yes.”
During the late 1970’s l was pastoring a small church of 39 people in upstate New York. I was asked to put together a youth conference for about 400 teenagers in the Albany area. I invited a music group called The Friends of Jesus to lead the conference. They sang and proclaimed the joy and love of Jesus Christ. It was amazing. This two-day conference ended on Saturday afternoon. One of the leaders invited the youth who had never accepted Jesus Christ to stand up come forward and profess for the first time that they were receiving Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. What happened next was just amazing. 56 said, “Yes Lord.” 56 teenagers and 2 pastors! Yes 2 pastors came forward to receive Jesus Christ as their personal Savior.
You see, one can go to church for 56 years or go to Bible College or even Seminary and still not be saved. Today if you have already confessed that Jesus Christ is your Savior then rejoice!!! But, no matter your age, occupation or position in the church, if you have never prayed to receive Jesus into your heart then you are as lost as Pastor Jon’s mother and those two pastors plus those 56 teenagers.
Don’t delay! Right now and right here ask Jesus Christ for forgiveness of your sins plus invite Him to come into your life to be your personal Savior. My friend if you don’t receive Him in this life, one second after you die will be the worst moment of your life and it will be too late. Receive Jesus Christ today and rejoice with those of us who already have. God Bless You!!!!
