Church Updates

What to Expect June 7th

by Jon Hathorn on June 03, 2020

Key Goals in returning: SAFE, SIMPLE, SPECIAL, SACRED

General Key Points:

1) WE ARE BACK ON CAMPUS! AND STILL ONLINE!

2) Two On Campus Services will take place (9:00am and 10:45am).

3) Room capacity is limited to 100 or 25% of capacity by the state.

(9:00 is live in the Sanctuary with space for 90 and an overflow of 35 in Agape Hall)

(10:45 is live in the Activity Center with space for 100)

4) Should the 9:00 service be full in both rooms, please join us on line and/or return at 10:45.

5) Masks are strongly encouraged but not required for attendees, and many will be wearing PPE out of courtesy for others.

6) Please self-check for illness at home before you decide to attend service (i.e. take your own     temperature). If you are not feeling well or have a temperature, please stay home and join our online service.

 7) To help promote social distancing, every other pew entrance has been blocked off. Great opportunity to sit in a new seat and six feet away from someone new.

 8) Our 9:00 service will be streaming online on YouTube!

 9) To help us plan, we would love to know if you are planning to attend this Sunday. Could you let us know of your on campus intentions by going to https://www.eventbrite.com/o/lincoln-presbyterian-church-30387922802. This doesn’t reserve you a seat, but it will sure help us plan for this first Sunday back on campus.

 10) SEE YOU ALL SOON! Whether that be in person or online, and please pray for all of us in this process.

 Specific Points of SAFETY

1. We will limit attendance in our services.

2. We will encourage socially distancing in every building while worshiping. A friendly usher will help make this happen. Members of the same household may be seated together but should maintain at least six feet from other households

3. The CDC recommends that all people should use face coverings (children under 2 should not wear face coverings, in accordance with federal guidelines). This is a recommendation but is not mandated. Worship leaders on stage will not be wearing face coverings.

4. If you are of vulnerable age, have serious underlying medical conditions, feel that you have been ill or have had close contact with a person with COVID-19, we encourage you to stay home and enjoy worshiping with us online. We look forward to seeing you another Sunday!

5. We are asking you to self-screen your health at home, including taking your temperature.

6. Our facilities have been thoroughly cleaned at this point preparing for your return.

7. Likewise, we will perform a thorough cleaning of high traffic areas before and after each service.

8. Restrooms will also be cleaned before and after each service.

9. There will many hand sanitizer bottles and stations as you enter the building.

10. We are working at entering and exiting the buildings through a single traffic flow (entering the sanctuary from the lobby and we will work at exiting through the doors closest to where you are sitting).

11. We will not pass offering plates. You may also choose to give your offering online, by Give+ mobile app, or through the mail. Offerings may be deposited in the newly installed offering boxes in the sanctuary (at the entrance of each aisle).

12. We will only be reopening our worship services at this time. This means we will not be having any Nursery, Children’s, Youth or Adult Sunday School classes on our campus. Families are encouraged to come and worship together.

13. We will not be serving any refreshments or beverages at this time.

14. Doors will be propped open during peak periods when people are entering and exiting our facilities.

15. We are asking that you be sensitive to others with your greetings. Some people are ready to be greeted with a hug and handshake, but others will be hesitant. Be aware and use the “love thy neighbor” approach of understanding where others are coming from.

16. All of these general guidelines will be evaluated after the first weeks as we move forward through phases of opening up Lincoln Presbyterian.

From a SIMPLE, SPECIAL AND SACRED POINT OF VIEW

1.  CDC and governmental guidelines state that singing increases risk of droplets – therefore, we will have a limited number of congregational songs these first few weeks, during our on-campus worship services.

2.  We will celebrate communion this first week, and we will be using single serving communion cups, which will be on the seats and/or in the pews when you arrive. We will give special instructions on how to use these.

3.  Our seniors who have just graduated from high school will be honored in each service on June 7th.

4.  Our last two months of services have been pre-recorded and we have had the time to edit and make an incredible viewing experience. As we go live and live streaming simultaneously, we will be in an adjustment period these first few weeks – so if it looks a little different – remember it's live.

Thank you for continuing to support the ministry with your generous giving that has allowed us to elevate the name of Jesus when people need to hear His name now more than ever. We have great days of worship, growth, and service to our city in the days ahead!
