A Man is Moving In

“But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: you are of more value than many sparrows.” Luke 12:7

I wrote a devotional a while back about my 2-year-old daughter, Jane, loving a statue of St. Francis of Assisi in our neighbor’s yard across the street. She just calls him, “man.” Yesterday, our neighbor told us that she is moving and wants us to have “the man”. So, I carted this stone statue into our yard and now we have a man moving in with us. I think he will stay in the backyard. I must say, St. Francis must work out because he was not light to move!

This simple act of kindness from our neighbor meant a lot to Jane. She would have been sad to see the man go, and it was completely unexpected that my neighbor would be sensitive to that.

This act of kindness felt like the generous and knowing hand of God. We are told in Scripture that God notices the details of our lives, down to the number of hairs on our head. We have great value in His eyes. He knows my daughter finds joy in simply being able to see “the man”. It was as though God was saying, “I see you little Jane. I care about your joy. Here is a gift to you.”

There may be days when it feels like God does not see or notice you. Take Him at His word that He does see you and watch over you. He may be doing something in your life that you cannot see at the moment, but He is there with you, loving you and noticing you as He always does.
