Do you ever pause just to ask God to lead your steps for the day? And as the day unfolds, do you stop here and there to check in with Him? To ask what He wants you to do, where to go, who to talk to, or what to say?
I believe that kind of listening is part of learning to walk with the Holy Spirit. It is not always dramatic, but it matters.
A few weeks ago, I had one of those moments. I was debating whether or not to visit someone in the hospital. My day was full, and I was not sure what to do. Sitting in my car, I paused and prayed, “God, what should I do?” In that quiet moment, I sensed I should go.
So I went. The visit was meaningful and seemed to be an encouragement. But then something else happened. As I stepped into the elevator to leave, I ran into a woman I had not seen in years. Her son was in the hospital for emergency heart surgery. I asked if I could pray for him, and she welcomed it. I went and prayed with him. He was not walking with the Lord, but I believe God wanted me there in that moment. I prayed not only for his heart to be physically healthy but for him to become spiritually healthy as well.
There was another unexpected gift. I had been trying to get in touch with her other son for something completely unrelated, and I had no idea how to reach him. That brief meeting gave me the contact information I needed.
I could share more, but here is the point. That one simple pause, just asking God what to do, led to blessing after blessing. I do not always live like this. But that is why I need reminders like this one. Little moments of surrender can shape a day, and sometimes they reach further than we know.
So today, take a moment. Ask Him to lead. Make space to listen. You never know what He might unfold.
