This season you’re walking through may feel heavy or uncertain. But God is at work, even here. He may be using it to grow something in you that cannot be grown any other way—compassion.
Scripture tells us,
“He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others.”
(2 Corinthians 1:4, NLT)
We often complain about our inconveniences and wounds. But what if these are not just disruptions to our plans? What if they are invitations? Invitations to be comforted by God. To know His nearness in our struggle. To learn how to walk with others in theirs.
St. Francis of Assisi prayed,
“O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console.”
That kind of heart is shaped through experience. Through pain touched by grace.
Lord, open our eyes. Help us not to waste our hurt or rush past the lessons. Teach us to receive your comfort. And then, teach us to give it away.
