Proverbs 15:14 – “A wise person is hungry for knowledge, while the fool feeds on trash.”
Every day, we have endless choices about what we consume—not just in food, but in information, entertainment, and even conversations. With books, podcasts, sermons, and Scripture available at our fingertips, we have access to an abundance of wisdom. Yet, at the same time, we can easily spend hours scrolling through content that does nothing to nourish our souls.
This proverb challenges us to examine our input. Just as a steady diet of junk food weakens the body, a steady intake of negativity, gossip, or mindless entertainment can weaken our faith and perspective. Not everything that captures our attention is good for us. Some things lead us toward peace, wisdom, and Christlikeness—while others leave us anxious, empty, or distracted.
A simple way to apply this is to ask: Does this bring me closer to Jesus? Does it make me more joyful, peaceful, and wise, or does it stir up anxiety and confusion and sin? What we consume shapes our hearts and minds.
Take a moment today to evaluate what you’re feeding your soul. Where can you make small shifts to focus on wisdom and truth?
