Mark 3:14 says, “He appointed twelve that they might be with him and that he might send them out to preach.”
Notice the order: before sending them out, Jesus called the twelve to simply be with Him. The first call on our lives isn’t to achieve or produce—it’s to abide in Jesus. We are not just tools in God’s hands, valuable only for what we can do. We are His beloved children, created for relationship with Him.
Loving parents don’t delight in their children merely for their accomplishments but for who they are. One of my greatest joys in life is just to sit with my daughter in my lap and hold her. Likewise, our Heavenly Father treasures time spent with us. Let your heart rest today in the simple joy of His presence. Before you think about what you need to do for Him, take time to enjoy being with Him. He delights in you! Delight in Him!
